At Maji Zima, we pride ourselves on being at the forefront of clean water initiatives, committed to making a difference in vulnerable communities around Kenya. Recently, we had the privilege of partnering with Young Life Africa Children's Home in Thome, Ruiru Area, on a project that exemplifies our mission to provide clean, safe water to those in need.
Upon visiting Young Life Africa Children's Home, we were deeply moved by their dedication to providing refuge and opportunity to boys who have faced rejection and hardship. Established in 2003, this NGO has been steadfast in its commitment to offering shelter, mentorship, and skill development to its young residents.
However, amidst their noble mission, Young Life Africa Children's Home faced a formidable challenge in ensuring clean, safe water access. Drawing from a polluted river initially, they encountered a health crisis when a cholera outbreak affected twenty-four boys. Despite their efforts to mitigate the risks by digging a well and installing a pump, concerns about water quality persisted, prompting their quest for a sustainable solution.
That's where we stepped in. After conducting a comprehensive pre-installation survey, we identified the perfect remedy - the MS-MZ water filter. Positioned slightly below a raised tank, this gravity-fed filter purifies their water supply, shielding the boys from the perils of contamination.
On April 18th, 2024, the dream of clean water became a tangible reality as we installed the MS-MZ water filter at Young Life Africa Children's Home. The threat of waterborne illnesses has been minimized, providing better health and safety.
