For a good reason, charity runs have become increasingly popular. They offer an opportunity to combine physical fitness with social impact, raising awareness and funds for a good cause. The Run for Nature Marathon was a great initiative by the Ololo Foundation in conjunction with the Office of the Woman Representative Kajiado County. The project focuses on empowering women in Kajiado County through regenerative farming practices. The project aims to equip women with knowledge about seed propagation, providing them with a source of income and improving their livelihoods.
Raising Awareness about our Environment

The Run for Nature Charity runs was a great way to raise awareness, educate our community, and draw attention to environmental issues. It was a unique event we were privileged to participate. As Maji Zima, we are supporting this initiative because it directly impacts our community. Empowering women through regenerative farming practices will bring positive changes to our neighbours. By participating in this marathon, we can support this cause and contribute to the project's success.
During the event, we were honoured to serve the community members participating in the marathon by providing safe drinking water. In addition, we had an opportunity to interact with the Oloosikron pupils and the other runners at the water points and after the events. One pupil, Jose, commented, âI was the first one to finish the race. I hope they give me a present.â They are an inspiring bunch of pupils. We hope to continue impacting their lives in any way.

Creating a Sense of Community
The Run for Nature Charity run was a great way to create a sense of community, with participants coming together to support the cause. The run brought together people from different backgrounds, ages, and fitness levels, promoting inclusivity and unity. The sense of community created by this event will inspire people to work towards the common goal of saving our environment and positively impacting society.
We crowned the event by planting trees to commemorate such a great day. We had the women representative, Mrs. Leah Sankale, planting a couple of trees alongside other partners who sponsored the initiative. In addition, our team was honoured to plant the Custard Apple tree, known for producing one of the sweetest fruits. We hope the Oloosikron community will remember to water, prune, and care for them. This exercise marks the beginning of better things to come within our community. Finally, Ololo gifted Maji Zima with a Mukinduri tree for planting in the Head office gardens.
